The Great Smokey Roadblock

I cannot emphasize how much this movie fails to work. The screenplay has multiple Bit Incidents, which are sequences that run on nonexistent juxtaposition humor: a bunch of sex workers talk to their quarries, two men toke up outside a dance hall, Hippie Austin Pendleton rambles on and on while the girls eat hamburgers. Half the actors are miscast, the music is terrible, the characters restate their goals again and again, the tension is limp, the jokes are awful. There's maybe one or two good ideas in here somewhere but they are buried under a lot of very poor moviemaking.

The trucking theme (working man tries to work while authorities try to keep him from working) is there, but there is no fun to be had here. Trucker movies should be fun. Boo.
