A Bridge Too Far

So long, and so clearly a callback to the grand war films of the 1950s and 60s, but lesser than those. I enjoyed the paratrooping and the massive guns (particularly good editing during those sequences), Attenborough’s framing is impeccable, and Anthony Hopkins is very well cast. Literally nothing else is worth the time investment. I’m amazed how much it reminded me of Gandhi: an Important Film according to everyone, but profoundly boring in the actual viewing experience. And so cold! I’m not sure Attenborough even likes making movies.
